What Documents Are Needed for an MCA Buyout?

Published: Last Updated: Reviewed By: Appropriate Capital

To evaluate an MCA buyout, a provider needs to understand your existing obligations and your business's financial picture. The documents below are commonly reviewed. You don't need all of them to start — a focused initial submission can begin the review, with the remaining items completed as the file progresses.

Priority Items for an Initial Submission

These are the items that typically allow a preliminary review to begin:

  • Recent business bank statements — usually the last 4 months, to review deposits and cash flow.
  • Current month-to-date bank activity — a transaction report showing deposits since the last statement.
  • Existing MCA agreements — the contracts for each current position.
  • Current MCA debt schedule — lender/funder, current balance, and daily or weekly payment for each position.

Items to Complete the Full Package

As the review progresses, the following are commonly requested:

  • 2025 business tax return
  • 2024 business tax return
  • 2025 year-end profit & loss statement
  • 2025 year-end balance sheet
  • 2026 year-to-date P&L
  • Current 2026 balance sheet
  • Business debt schedule
  • Business asset or equipment list, if applicable

Why Bank Statements Matter So Much

Bank statements are the foundation of an MCA buyout review because they show the actual cash flow the business has available to support any new structure. Underwriting looks at the consistency of deposits, the volume of revenue, and how much is left after existing daily or weekly payments. Strong, consistent deposits support more options; irregular or declining deposits can limit what's available.

Why the MCA Agreements Matter

The existing MCA agreements define the terms of each position — the advance amount, factor rate, payback amount, payment frequency, and any reconciliation or confessions of judgment provisions. Reviewing these helps a provider understand exactly what would need to be paid off and whether the structure of each position affects the available options.
